xxxxxxpeace star history xxxxx

xxxTowards the end of 2001, I began making Peace stars from terracotta clay. Probably September 11 was what initiated the idea.
xxxPeace and stars seem to go together. Looking upwards to the night sky, alive with stars, there is a feeling of peace and tranquility. Christ brought the message of Peace for mankind to earth. His birth was heralded by a star - so stars and Peace . . .
xxxBefore going travelling in 2002, with the last firing of my kiln before leaving, I made a batch of 11 Peace stars to take with me. My intention was to leave one in every country I visited.
xxxThe first star I hung in a tree in Japan with a meditation for Peace. Every 11th of each month with whoever I was staying we would share in a Peace meditation and a star would be hung in a tree.
xxx On September 11th 2002 I was on the Pilgrims' Trail to Santiago in Spain, the Camino and shared in a Peace meditation in a little refugio in a village on the way. Quite a few stayed behind in France, in the Dordogne, the Ariege, the Cevenne and in Provence, one there hanging in a mulberry tree outside an old stone house.
xxx One star went to New York, taken by someone I met on a community in France. She was going to the Peace march in New York and said she would hang it on a tree somewhere. I had an opportunity to make more while staying in France at a house with a pottery and later made a few more in Britain. One I hung at Glastonbury above the Chalice well in some beautiful gardens at the foot of Glastonbury Tor. Some remained in friends' houses.

Hang a star in a tree in your garden or in your house

If you are travelling hang one somewhere else in the World....

With every glance at the Star send out a wish for Peace for our World... and our Universe
